City of Denver Requests Participation

Denver Pedestrian and Trails task force is trying to reach as many people as possible to participate in the upgrading of Denver’s Sidewalks and Trail system.

I was asked to share the survey link below with as many distribution lists as possible.  It will help prioritize upgrading and expansion going forward.

Lowry Foundation’s Speaker Series

The Lowry Community Master Association (LCMA) has three Board of Directors seats up for election at the annual meeting on Thursday, December 7th, 2017 at 6P in the Eisenhower Chapel.

The LCMA Board maintains the physical assets and protects the financial assets of the association, oversees the Design Review process for new construction and changes to existing properties, enforces the covenants of the Association, and works to promote quality of life for those who live, work and play in Lowry.   The LCMA manages, maintains and insures all common elements, such as LCMA-owned parks, sidewalks, alleys, private roads, trees, landscaping, park equipment, lighting, monuments and walls, so that they are preserved for current and future owners in Lowry to enjoy (you can find a more comprehensive list of those assets here).

The LCMA’s Lowry Design Review Committee works with developers and builders to review and approve proposed building plans.  The LCMA’s Buildings and Grounds Committee oversees maintenance activities and reviews Design Review Requests for changes to existing homes and commercial buildings.  The LCMA also puts on several community events each year and provides neighborhood communications via a weekly eNewsletter and the Lowry Facebook page and Twitter feed.

Those interested in being considered to serve on the Board of Directors should complete the 2017 LCMA Board of Directors Application.  Any property owner, owner’s spouse or domestic partner or representative of a commercial owner is eligible to run for the LCMA Board of Directors if they are in good standing with the Association.  Qualifications that are helpful, but not required, for an LCMA Board Member to have are a background in architecture, landscape architecture, construction, construction management, finance, communications, legal and/or HOA, not-for-profit, or non-profit Board experience.

For inclusion on the Proxy Form mailed out to all property owners and the ballot, the application must be received by 5P on Friday, October 27th, 2017.  For inclusion on the ballot only, the application must be received by 5P on Monday, December 4th, 2017.  Nominations received after the deadline will be considered write-in candidates. Lowry Recycling Collects Socks for Comitis Shelter

Comitis Shelter, on the Anschutz campus, provides housing for people with addictions.  Residents need to be in treatment to qualify to stay.  Many families are clients so socks for babies to adults of all sizes are needed.

October the Montclair Rec Center at 6th and Ulster will be collecting socks.  Your generosity for these vulnerable people is greatly appreciated.

Lowry United Neighbors Gatherings

A gathering is planned for this Thursday, September 14th, at 5:30 at Luce (85 & 89 Rampart) in their wonderful party room which spans the two buildings. Luce is across from the restaurant district (right across from North County). Come on, you can find it! Join your friends and bring any neighbors that might enjoy the company of super Lowry people. Bring something to eat OR drink and join us. No RSVPs are needed; just show up and share your knowledge of Lowry and life with the rest of us. The Luce Community has kindly included us on their wonderful patio, so stop on by. Hosted by Dick and Debbie Galaty.

We’ve already scheduled another event at the home of Kay and Peter Pryor on Thursday September 28th, at 5:30: 7373 E. Bayaud (north side of Bayaud). These three-year Lowry residents have kindly invited us to their house. These gatherings are intended to build community, have you meet new people, find out what’s going on in Lowry, and take you to a different location in our hamlet. People still say to me: We have a food bank here, a small convention area? Where’s the Eisenhower Chapel and what this New American School? This is OUR LOWRY so let’s enjoy it.
